Whether you’re in high school or college, there’s a good chance you’re going to have to write a paper using only “reliable” sources, which most teachers and professors define as .edu sites.  However, weeding through your google search results to find educational sites can be tedious and frustrating.  Luckily, there is an easy way to get only the search results you want without even dealing with Google’s Advanced Search features.

So, What is The Secret to Getting Only .edu Search Results?

The quick and easy way to search only within educational sites

is to include the tag “site:.edu” at the end of your search query.  For example, if you are searching for the phrase “ancient Egyptian artifacts” you would put the following phrase into the google search box:

Ancient Egyptian artifacts site:.edu

That’s right.  You don’t have to select any special features, go to the advanced search page, or use filters.  All you have to do is include a simple tag after your search phrase.

If you’re writing a research paper and want to get only .edu google results, the answer is easy.  Just add the tag and you’ll get the results you want.  Writing research papers can be time consuming and difficult, but the research doesn’t have to be.  In fact, if you know what you’re looking for, it can be

quite easy.

When teachers say you can only use internet sources that end in .edu, they are usually met with groans and sighs of irritation.  This is because their students think that the research is going to be more difficult.  However, once you know the tag to use, finding Google search results that end in .edu becomes incredibly easy.  Don’t let your research be more difficult than it needs to be.  Just add the tag, site:.edu to the end of your search phrase and you’ll be well on your way to finding reputable and reliable resources for your research papers.
