How are Wigs Different From Hair Extensions?

Want to know the difference between a wig and a hair extension? I'll tell you here.

How Wigs Are Different From Hair Extensions

When shopping for wigs, you may be initially confused about the difference between wigs and hair extensions. In photos, they sometimes appear to be the same thing. However, the difference between the two is very big and very simple. Wigs are made to fit over the scalp or existing hair. When you wear a wig, you see only the wig. Any existing hair is either tucked into a cap or simply covered by

the wig itself.

Hair extensions are made to make the existing hair look longer or to give it more volume. There are a number of different types of hair extensions

ranging from easily removable clip in extensions to extensions that are professionally sewn or glued to existing hair.

If you’re simply looking to make your hair look longer, hair extensions are probably what you’re looking for. But if you want something a little more complete, or if you want to dramatically change the cut, color, or style of your hair, a wig is most likely what you need. Basically, while hair extensions are just pieces of hair that you add to your own, a wig can be a complete replacement for your hair or an easy way to change up your look.
